2008 - Ronnie Ron's first whitetail - Ada, Mi

Well, it's been a hard hunt this year but tonight I got my first buck.  A 5 pointer, shot him at about 90 yards away from my tree stand.  He dropped about 8 feet from where I shot him.  I was glad I did not have to track him because i was by myself.

Still warm out...Tough hunt

Well it's November 4th and the high temp today will be around 70. Hunting has been slow, seeing deer but nothing close enough to shoot with a bow.

It's not going to be till we get snow in MI if the clouds keep looking like this

Hard Hunting

Hunting has been hard this year, due to I normally hunt over bait piles. Michigan DNR will not allow deer baiting this year due to a confirmed case of CWD (Chronic Wasting Disease) in Kent county on a deer farm. So, to all the hunters out there, see what our market economy has done to our sport? Something to think about......

Lots of nothing going on

The large amount of rain that hurricane ike dropped on west MI a couple of weeks ago really killed river fishing. All of our favorite river haunts are stil high and moving fast. This past week, Ron has been out state on top if it. I'm surprised we have't heard anything fishing related from him! I'm trying to find the time to get out at least one more time before things shift into hunting mode. Till next time!!

Hunting and Fishing

I think this month maybe a very busy one for us. Ron is getting setup for bow hunting. He's even looking at cam 'corders so we can post successful hunts. On the other hand, I'm decking out my 9' steelhead rod for some river action. The salmon and steelhead are already starting to show up in the big rivers.

Hopefully, at the end of the day, we'll remember to talk about it! ;)

I was poking around on Weather Underground today at work, and saw this awesome looking cloud.

Thinking back to another of those warmer days. Boy I can't wait until spring hits!

Don't see many of these anymore. The road that leads to this bridge has been closed for at least 5 years now. It's really cold this morning, so I thought it'd be nice to look at something that was from a warmer time.
